Golden State Warriors’ Stephen Curry expects to return in second round

Golden State star Stephen Curry expects to return from an MCL sprain during the Western Conference semifinals, if the Warriors advance that far, league sources told Yahoo Sports.

Curry has a three-week evaluation scheduled for Saturday on his left knee, but is targeting the second round of the NBA playoffs for his return at some point, league sources said.

The Warriors begin their postseason Saturday afternoon against the San Antonio Spurs. Golden State lost three of its last four games to finish the regular season, but still has All-Stars Kevin Durant, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green as well as 2015 Finals MVP Andre Iguodala healthy for the playoffs.

Curry suffered the injury March 23 against the Atlanta Hawks.

Curry, a two-time NBA MVP and two-time champion, averaged 26.4 points, 6.1 assists and 5.1 rebounds in 51 games this season. He made his fifth All-Star appearance as well.
