GIRLS BASKETBALL

HUNTERDON/WARREN/SUSSEX TOURNAMENT QUARTERFINALS

Delaware Valley 33, Voorhees 17: Margaret Affeld scored 22 points and the Delaware Valley defense did the rest as the sixth-seeded Terriers advanced to the semifinals. Del Val will face second-seeded Warren Hills next Saturday. The Blue Steaks topped seventh-seeded Hunterdon Central 35-29 Saturday. Sydney Collins and Jenna Baranek tallied four points each to pace 15th-seeded Voorhees (7-13).

GREATER MIDDLESEX CONFERENCE TOURNAMENT PLAY-IN ROUND

Perth Amboy Tech 60, Metuchen 54: Eliza Arocho netted 22 points and Daisy Arocho added 19 points as 25th-seeded Perth Amboy Tech upended No. 24 Metuchen. Christina Crowe chipped in 16 points for Perth Amboy Tech, which will visit ninth-seeded Piscataway Tech on Monday. Rory Josell scored 22 points and nabbed 11 steals, and Chase Klavon notched 18 points and six rebounds for the Bulldogs.

Timothy Christian 36, Highland Park 28: Sierra Thomas notched 17 points and six rebounds and Rayza Michelen added 13 points and 23rd-seeded Timothy Christian advanced. Danielle Dyer chipped in six points for the Tigers, who will visit 10th-seeded Sayreville in Monday’s preliminary round. Uchchi Odikanawa scored 15 points to pace No. 26 Highland Park.

J.F. Kennedy 43, Wardlaw-Hartridge 10: Jaylin Cabrera posted nine points and six rebounds, and Kristina Caroselli and Rhea Martin each chipped in seven points to send 22nd-seeded J.F. Kennedy into the next round. The Mustangs visit 11th-seeded North Brunswick on Monday. Audrey Vu and Kynise Dixon each scored four points, while Nadia Valcourt also added a bucket for 27th-seeded Wardlaw-Hartridge.

UNION COUNTY TOURNAMENT FIRST ROUND

Governor Livingston 38, Rahway 33: Skylar Dowling scored 21 points and Fiona Kerr added eight points and 15th-seeded Governor Livingston handled 18th-seeded Rahway in the opening round. The Highlanders will visit second-seeded Roselle Catholic in Tuesday’s second round.

REGULAR SEASON

Rutgers Prep 59, Bridgewater-Raritan 44: Leilani Correa scored 14 points and grabbed five rebounds, and Alex Scariati added 12 points as Rutgers Prep capped its perfect Skyland Conference Delaware Division schedule. Molly Lynch chipped in nine points for the Argonauts (18-3). Bridgewater-Raritan is 13-6.

Watchung Hills 50, Ridge 40: Julia Cunningham posted 15 points and nine rebounds and Alexa Santo added 13 points to send Watchung Hills (18-1). Sophie Beneventine scored 15 points to pace Ridge (13-9).

Bernards 51, Hackettstown 30: Jenna Whelan recorded a double-double with 18 points and 12 rebounds for Bernards (14-5). Jenna McHale finished with 12 points and six rebounds. 

BOYS BASKETBALL

HUNTERDON/WARREN/SUSSEX TOURNAMENT QUARTERFINALS

Hunterdon Central 72, Newton 50: Sean Oberman scored 18 points as fifth-seeded Hunterdon Central (13-8) defeated No. 4 Newton (17-3).  Sam Johnson finished with 15 points and Alex Degen added 11 points. Hunterdon Central will host eighth-seeded Pope John in the semifinals. 

GREATER MIDDLESEX CONFERENCE TOURNAMENT PLAY-IN ROUND

Metuchen 84, Wardlaw-Hartridge 33: Ethan Levovits scored 18 points and Amari Whitehead added 12 points and No. 21 seed Metuchen advanced. Riley Watkins and Ryan Grice chipped in 11 points apiece for the Bulldogs, who visit 12th-seeded Perth Amboy on Monday. Shalon Wallace scored 14 points and Ryan Petela added 10 points for the 28th-seeded Rams.

Perth Amboy Tech 65, Highland Park 58: Yire Belliard netted 26 points and Kyle Simady added 17 points to send 23rd-seeded Perth Amboy Tech into the next round. Kelvin Maria chipped in 12 points in the victory, setting up a Monday meeting at seventh-seeded Colonia. Connor Murcier scored 22 points and Donovan Crawford chimed in with 16 points for the 26th-seeded Owls.

South Brunswick 74, Dunellen 54: Devin Strickland and Justin Carbone scored 19 points apiece and 25th-seeded South Brunswick got past 24th-seeded Dunellen to advance. The Vikings will visit ninth-seeded Edison on Monday. Tyje Kelton tallied 28 points, 11 rebounds and five steals, and Noah Wenzel posted 13 points for the Destroyers.

South Plainfield 56, J.F. Kennedy 33: Ian McCoid scored 14 points and Dondre Tate tossed in 10 points to boost South Plainfield into the next round. The 22nd-seeded Tigers will visit 11th-seeded North Brunswick on Monday. Rohan Clarke scored 11 points to pace the 27th-seeded Mustangs.

UNION COUNTY TOURNAMENT FIRST ROUND

Elizabeth 58, Westfield 55: Matt Crowley scored 19 points and Adam McDaniel added 18 points, but 12th-seeded Westfield was eliminated by the 13th-seeded Minutemen.

Union Catholic 61, Oratory Prep 42: Justin Archer tallied 16 points and six rebounds and Lub Lynn added 11 points and five boards as No. 7 seed Union Catholic rolled into the second round. Isaiah Hill chipped in eight points for the Vikings, who will visit second-seeded The Patrick School in the second round.

Rahway 44, Dayton 33: Nick Galette scored 20 points as sixth-seeded Rahway (19-2) defeated No. 19 Dayton (6-12). Rahway will host No. 14 Johnson in the next round.  

REGULAR SEASON

Watchung Hills 82, Somerville 54: Mike Hopwood’s 17-point day headed a list of five players scoring in double-digits as Watchung Hills improved to 15-6. Steven Bressler netted 15 points, Dan Pilsbury chipped in 14 points, Gavin DeFuria helped out with 13 points and Michael Bressler chimed in with 11 points and 10 assists in the victory. Kevin Sokol scored 17 points and Ethan Hillman added 16 points to lead Somerville (8-14).

Ridge 58, East Brunswick 44: Jeremy McCavera scored 17 points and Chris Feringa netted 13 points as Ridge rolled. Nate Gerrera’s 10 points aided the cause as the Red Devils improved to 10-10. Ryan Crocco scored 15 points and Travis Cumber added nine points for the Bears (9-11).

Immaculata 72, St John Vianney 54: BJ Honis notched 21 points and five assists and Jared Chambliss and Jaden Honis each added 11 points to fuel Immaculata. Luke Medley chipped in 10 points for the Spartans.

Hillsborough 60, Pingry 34: Dante Walker scored 14 points and Ryan McCaffery added 11 point to power Hillsborough (7-14). Pingry is 4-16.

Linden 74, North Bergen 45: Tavon Jones led Linden (16-5) with 29 points, six rebounds, five steals and four assists. Mikey Watkins posted 17 points, three rebounds, two assists and one block. Myles Ruth added 10 points, five assists, two rebounds, one block and one steal.
