The Patriots coaching continuity is growing as they begin preparations for the 2018 season. According to ESPN’s Mike Reiss, Jerry Schuplinski is returning for next season.
Schuplinski was slated to head to Indianapolis with Josh McDaniels to coach under him. Once the offensive coordinator elected to leave the Colts at the alter however, that also changed the fate of the assistant quarterbacks coach. Schuplinski has been with the Patriots since 2013 and has been serving as the assistant QB coach to McDaniels since 2016.
As Reiss notes, Schuplinski was helpful in the development of both Jacoby Brissett and Jimmy Garoppolo and should be a factor in the maturation of the next young quarterback the Patriots draft in the coming years.
In an offseason where Bill Belichick was potentially facing a complete renovation of his coaching staff, now it looks like most pieces are staying in place.
